Chinese Stock Markets Start Higher After Two Days of Decline

(Yicai Global) Feb.27 - China's stock markets opened higher this morning after two straight days of decline amid a global stock slump.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened up 0.15 percent at 2,992.49, while Shenzhen Component Index began 0.51 percent higher at 11,548.84. The ChiNext, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen market, climbed 0.9 percent to 2,194.39.

Hotels and catering firms, the hardest hit by the Covid-19 outbreak, began recovering today, while medical waste disposal firms and vocational education providers were the biggest gainers. Agricultural firms and manufacturers of masks, superconductors and photoresists were among the worst performers.
