Chinese Stocks Close Higher as Growth Enterprise Index Gains Over 2%

(Yicai Global) Jan. 7 – China's stock market closed higher today after a good opening, with the Growth Enterprise Index up by over 2 percent.

The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.72 percent to 2,533.09 points with a turnover of CNY145.5 billion (USD21.2 billion). The Shenzhen Component Index rose 1.58 percent to close at 7,400.20 with a trading volume of CNY201.8 billion. The Growth Enterprise Index, also located in Shenzhen, closed 1.94 percent higher at 1,268.06 with turnover of CNY61.9 billion.

Over 90 stocks hit the 10 percent increase limit allowed in China's A-share market, with the semiconductor sector gaining 7 percent and vision, ultra-high voltage and military sectors also leading the gains. Underperformers included companies from the banking, securities and insurance firms.
