(Yicai Global) Dec. 9 -- Stock markets on China's mainland open the day in positive territory as investors expected a tamed inflationary picture should afford regulators more leeway in managing the economy.

The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.17 percent to 3,46.08 at the gate, while its Nasdaq-like Star Market Board 50 Index, or Star 50, gained 0.13 percent to 1,400.57.

The Shenzhen Component Index was up 0.18 percent to 13,998.62. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, rose 0.22 percent to 2,752.35.

The consumer price index was minus 0.5 percent annually last month as food prices fell, China’s National Bureau of Statistics announced today.
