(Yicai Global) June 3 -- Visa applications for Chinese students who apply to study in the US are hitting up against obstacles these days that may impact study schedules. 

China's education ministry took the unprecedented step of issuing this advisory today, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Some Chinese students seeking student visas for the US have had their review periods extended. The overall rejection rate is also rising, while periods of validity are becoming shorter.

The ministry is cautioning students who plan to study in the country to evaluate these factors before going forward with their applications.
