[CIIE] Chinese Tech Firms Leverage CIIE to Explore Internal, External Opportunities [CIIE] Chinese Tech Firms Leverage CIIE to Explore Internal, External Opportunities

(Yicai) Nov. 7 -- Chinese technology companies have brought many innovative products, including robots, to the Eighth China International Import Expo, seeking to seize opportunities both in the domestic and global markets.

The CIIE is a great opportunity for TCab Tech to showcase its products to overseas customers, Xu An, vice president and brand director of the Chinese maker of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, told Yicai. China's low-cost supply chain and rapid technological iteration advantages are helping locally developed eVTOL leave a mark in the global market, Xu added.

TCab Tech's E20 passenger eVTOL aircraft has received an order for 100 units from Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Leasing at the CIIE.

Vertaxi, another Chinese eVTOL aircraft maker, has accumulated intention orders for 200 M1 models from both domestic and international customers so far at this year's CIIE, with a total value of more than CNY2 billion (USD280 million).

Wuba Intelligent Technology is showcasing its quadruped robot Tianlang at the CIIE. Designed for civilian applications, such as emergency rescue and industrial inspection, the robot has a rated payload of 25 kilograms, a battery life of 2.5 to 3.5 hours, and can operate in environments with temperatures ranging from -20 to 55 degrees Celsius.

Since the opening of the expo on Nov. 5, Wuba Intelligent has received about 10 intention orders from buyers, including government agencies and industrial enterprises, a company representative told Yicai.

Embodied artificial intelligence companies are showcasing their products at the CIIE through performances and skill demonstrations.

For example, AgiBot's humanoid robots Lingxi X2 and Expedition A2, and quadruped robot D1 Ultra performed popular dance routines. The Expedition A2 also transformed into a smart bank manager, engaging in voice communication with and delivering beverages to waiting customers in a simulated bank lobby.

The Lingxi X2 and Expedition A2 have been widely used in cultural tourism and commercial performances, a business manager at AgiBot told Yicai. They can enliven the atmosphere with dance and also actively introduce their capabilities to the audience.

"We hope to show everyone that our robots are not just here at the CIIE for display, but they are truly capable of actively interacting with humans, allowing potential application partners to experience our products' service value in real time," the AgiBot manager noted.

Astribot held a concert, with a humanoid robot band performing 'Auld Lang Syne' at the CIIE. A staffer told Yicai that the Chinese AI robotics firm intended to showcase its robotic products through performances at the expo, demonstrating that they can complete various tasks in application scenarios that require complex and dexterous operations. They are also able to interact and collaborate with humans.

Astribot's robots have already been shipped to leading overseas institutions, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and some AI companies, the staffer said, adding that selling robots to overseas markets is not just a sales achievement but also a collaborative effort with customers to drive the development of cutting-edge technologies.

The high labor costs abroad make it more cost-effective to replace humans with robots for repetitive tasks, an executive from a robotics firm told Yicai.

The executive mentioned that her company got in touch with representatives from some foreign companies at the expo. "After the CIIE, the representatives came to us for product trials and further evaluations," she added.
