(Yicai Global) April 28 -- Chinese home appliance maker Skyworth Group has renamed its car brand Skywell to Skyworth to unify its branding along with big production plans.

The company plans to launch at least four pure electric Skyworth models between 2020 and 2025, Huang Hongsheng, founder of the Shenzhen-based TV set maker said at a press conference yesterday. Skywell debuted its first car, mid-sized sport utility vehicle ET5, in October 2020.

The home appliance firm revealed a series of new technologies yesterday. Those included its level-four autonomous driving system SkyPilot and its SkyDrive solution which can accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour from zero in 3.9 seconds. Its SkyPower technology can provide 1,000 km of battery life and charge the battery from 20 percent to 80 percent full in less than 28 minutes. Moreover, its SkySafety can help the driver stop the car in less than 34 meters when driving at 100 km per hour.

Huang founded Skywell's car manufacturer, Tianmei Automobile, with CNY200 million (USD30.8 million) in registered capital in 2019. The first model, the ET5, is priced between CNY152,800 and CNY198,800 (a minimum of USD23,546) after subsidies.

Skywell New Energy Automobile Group, the parent of Tianmei, has seven production bases in China and obtained the needed passenger vehicle qualification from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China in 2017.
