(Yicai Global) Oct. 26 -- China's largest ticketing platform, Damai, owned by Chinese internet giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA], has denied that it has been involved in the sale of fake tickets for the World Championships Season 7 of the most popular real-time battle game in the world, League of Legends.

Scalpers inflated ticket prices for the event 27-fold, selling CNY480 (USD72) tickets for CNY13,000 (USD1,957)

Tickets went on sale for the final event at Beijing's Olympic Stadium at 10.00 a.m. yesterday. However, users experienced extraordinary difficulties in purchasing tickets, and the website for buying them failed to load successfully.

Damai responded by saying that the difficulties were due to technical errors on the website's load balancing server due to heavy traffic. It initiated an emergency repair and normal business resumed at 11.40 a.m. the same day.

The firm also said that all tickets sold on the Damai platform are in line with face value prices and the company is not engaged in any illegal operations.
