(Yicai Global) Oct. 23 -- Sichuan-based electrical equipment maker Dongfang Electric Corp. Ltd. [SHA:600875] has delivered the country's first home-grown third-generation nuclear steam generator to Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant in southeastern Fujian province for installation at the Hualong One reactor, the company said.

The generator, specially designed for the facility's fifth reactor, is capable of achieving the same level of performance seen in such equipment in foreign markets while producing lower output steam humidity, higher output saturated vapor pressure and a greater power-to-weight ratio.

Dongfang Electric's subsidiary DEC Guangzhou Heavy Machinery Co. began producing the generator, which boasts a 60-year-service life, in August 2014.

China National Nuclear Corp. and China General Nuclear Power Group developed Hualong One as the country's own third-generation nuclear power technology. The companies have signed agreements with Argentina and the UK to export the technology in future.
