(Yicai Global) Jan. 13 -- Foreign investors held USD300 billion worth of Chinese mainland-listed shares by the end of last year, according to the UBS head of China global markets.

Two-thirds of that was traded via the Stock Connect scheme that links the mainland with Hong Kong while the rest was held by those participating in the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors program, Thomas Fang from the Swiss bank said at a seminar in Shanghai today.

By the end of March, foreigners' stock market investments reached CNY1.68 trillion (USD243 billion), according to China's central bank.
