(Yicai Global) May 28 -- China Gezhouba Group has landed a USD1.6 billion contract to build a hydropower station on the Indonesian area of Borneo.

Gezhouba will run engineering, procurement and construction for Indonesia Dafeng Heshun Energy Industri’s Data Dian plant, the Wuhan-based firm engineering and end environmental protection firm said in a statement yesterday.

Shares in Gezhouba [SHA:600008] were up 1.17 percent at CNY6.06 (85 US cents) as of 10.24 a.m.

The power plant, in North Kalimantan, will have an installed capacity of 1,200 megawatts. Gezhouba will debug the station and conduct trials runs as part of the five-year agreement before handing control over to the owner.

The deal will not significantly impact business this year, Gezhouba said, without revealing further details.
