(Yicai) Sept. 13 -- Yunnan Energy New Material, a supplier to Contemporary Amperex Technology and BYD, is slated to add nine years of orders from a global battery firm.
An international company has nominated the Shanghai unit of Yunnan Energy as a supplier of separator membranes for its battery plants in Europe and Asia from this year to 2031, the Yuxi-headquartered parent said in a statement yesterday.
The supplier did not disclose the volume or value of the expected orders but said that the subsidiary would follow the assignment as agreed. Moreover, Yunnan Energy did not disclose whether the buyer is one of its existing clients or a new one. The company’s overseas clients include major names such as Panasonic, Samsung, LG Chem, and General Motors-backed Ultium Cells while in China it sells products to firms such as Volkswagen-backed Gotion High-tech.
The acknowledgment failed to boost Yunnan Energy's capital market performance as its stock price [SHE: 002812] dropped 1.3 percent to CNY61.93 (USD8.50) as of 2.14 p.m. Worries about overcapacity in the industry have led the share price to drop about 80 percent from a record high of CNY319 (USD44) in September 2021 to trade close to the lowest point since July 2020.
