(Yicai Global) Dec. 5 -- A unit of Alphabet Inc. [NASDAQ:GOOGL] has introduced teaching tools for its artificial intelligence program AlphaGo so that humans can improve their skills in the ancient Chinese board game Go.

DeepMind Technologies Ltd. has developed the tools using 231,000 match records from human games and 75 records of games between AlphaGo and human players, Google Inc. Chief Executive Sundar Pichai said during a visit to Shanghai.

AlphaGo has pulled off sensational victories over top Go players including South Korea's Lee Sedol in the last two years. The program most recently beat Chinese prodigy Ke Jie in May this year.

DeepMind unveiled a new version of the software in October. AlphaGo Zero learned Go from scratch without any human input and beat its forerunner, AlphaGo Lee, by a score of 100 to 0, its developer said in a paper published in the journal Nature.
