(Yicai Global) July 12 -- Zhou Jiannan will join Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing as director of the bourse operator’s Chinese mainland business, replacing Mao Zhirong who will move to another position, the company said.

Zhou will join Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing on July 18 and will also be a member of the group's management committee, it said in a press release today. Mao will become strategic advisor for the Greater Bay Area and China commodities after leading the mainland business for a decade, it added.

Zhou was chairman of Shanghai-based Jianhe Asset Management from 2021. Before that, he was chief executive at Everbright Securities and Dacheng Asset Management and also worked at the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

In his new role, Zhou will lead Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing’s engagement with key mainland regulators and partners, supporting the group’s ongoing strategy and connecting China and the world, the statement said.

“Jiannan is a seasoned industry veteran with deep knowledge of the region’s financial markets and infrastructure,” Chief Executive Nicolas Aguzin said. “He has a unique background, having been a senior securities industry executive, regulator and stock exchange operator and I know that his expertise will play a key role in supporting the group’s future strategic development.
