(Yicai Global) May 21 -- Hong Kong’s Disneyland Resort is preparing to open its doors again and will implement strict anti-epidemic control measures to ensure the health of visitors and staff, Chinese broadcaster CCTV News reported, citing a recent statement from the amusement park.

The resort closed to the public on Jan. 26 due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. It announced at the time that it was in close contact with health authorities and the local government and would re-open once they deemed it advisable to do so.

All six Disney theme parks around the world were closed for the first time in history by March 16 due to Covid-19. Shanghai’s resort was the first to re-open on May 11.

Many popular tourist attractions in Hong Kong either restricted the number of visitors or completely shut down in compliance with government guidelines. Hong Kong’s Ocean Park, a rival attraction, is also mulling opening its doors again soon.

Hong Kong has taken strong measures to control the spread of the virus, including mandatory quarantine, social-distancing policies and strict border controls. So far, the special administrative region has logged just 1,055 confirmed cases. The last three were detected on May 17 and all of them were from abroad.
