(Yicai) Aug. 8 -- The 22nd China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference, also known as ChinaJoy, is drawing a large number of international exhibitors to Shanghai, underscoring China’s position as the world’s top mobile game exporter.

Nearly one-third of the more than 740 exhibitors at this year’s ChinaJoy are overseas companies, according to the organizer. The four-day event, one of the world’s most influential gatherings for gaming and interactive entertainment, concludes today.

Besides its large user base, China remained the global leader in mobile game exports in the first half of the year, followed by Israel and Russia, according to a report by mobile marketing analytics platform AppsFlyer. The report also noted increasing market concentration among top players.

Over the past decade, Chinese gaming apps have seen rapid growth in overseas downloads, though the pace has slowed since 2023. In terms of export destinations, Chinese game advertising spending remained heavily focused on the United States in the first half, accounting for more than half of the total. The US continues to be the primary market for China’s mid-to-hardcore games.

The report also highlighted a growing trend of multi-platform game development, which is becoming an industry standard.
