(Yicai Global) Nov. 15 -- A number of experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs in the biomedicine industry from China and overseas attended the opening ceremony of the second International Biopharma Industry Week Shanghai, which began yesterday.

Under the theme of ‘Unite and Upgrade for a Better Future,’ the five-day IBIWS will showcase innovative achievements and promote cooperation and exchange, with the aim of helping to transform Shanghai into a world-class biopharmaceutical center.

Thomas Südhof, winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, delivers a keynote speech via video.

Zhang Wenhong, director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, holds a roundtable discussion on the development of Shanghai's biomedical industry with Chen Kaixian, Jiang Hualiang, and Dong Chen, three members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Shanghai's Zhongshan Hospital and Ruijin Hospital become the first two institutions to receive the license of Shanghai Medical Industry Integration Innovation Bases.
