(Yicai Global) Nov. 5 -- The Shanghai government has agreed on a cooperation deal with Israel's science and technology ministry at the China International Import Expo, which opened in the eastern Chinese city yesterday and runs until Nov. 10.

The two parties will work together on innovations in life science, agricultural technology, energy and environmental protection among other sectors following the signing of a memorandum by Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong and Israel Science and Technology Minister Ofir Akunis.

"We are in a peak era of relations for Israel and China," Akunis told Yicai Global at a gala event held by the Israeli Consulate in Shanghai to mark CIIE. "We are collaborating in a lot of fields including science, technology and innovation, and I am optimistic about the relations between our two countries."

The pair will also strengthen exchanges and explore the further promote cooperation in civil science and technology. There are also plans to create a cooperation demonstration zone for the two countries at an innovation park in Shanghai.
