(Yicai Global) Sept. 15 -- Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com Inc. [NASDAQ:JD] has agreed a deal to work with Suzhou city's Xiangcheng district local government in eastern Jiangsu province to build the JD Wisdom Valley cloud computing and Big Data center. The firm is also partnering with another Jiangsu municipal government in Kunshan city to build China's largest single e-commerce operations center, state-owned China News Service reported.

The company aims to provide urban, industrial and e-commerce cloud service solutions and build smart city ecosystems based on cloud computing and Big Data at the Wisdom Valley center, said Huang Dongsheng, the firm's vice president.

JD.com plans to expand the center's regional business scope, starting from Suzhou, so that it can cover the whole Yangtze River Delta region and possibly even East China in the long-term, he added.

The firm value's Suzhou's strategic location in the Yangtze River Delta region as it boasts a strong industrial base and a high level of development.

JD.com started operations at the world's first full-process unmanned sorting center in Qiandeng town near Kunshan earlier this year. Although this represented a major development for the company, it has seen its business development constrained by the current layout of smart unmanned storage facilities.

The new e-commerce center in Kunshan will assist the firm greatly in making up for the shortfall in facility coverage, especially in the Yangtze River Delta region. The company expects total annual sales to reach CNY80 billion (USD12.3 billion) within three years of its completion.
