(Yicai Global) April 10 -- JD.Com’s vice president said at the weekend that the Chinese e-commerce giant will launch a new generation of ChatJD, an industrial version of ChatGPT focused on retail and finance, this year.

The next iteration will focus on text, voice, dialogue, and digital human based on JD.Com’s own practice, He Xiaodong said at the Artificial Intelligence Foundation Model Technology Summit on April 8. Its product copywriting capacity already covers more than 2,000 categories on JD.Com.

JD Cloud announced on Feb. 15 that it had launched ChatJD and said it would to be rolled out through one platform, two fields, and five applications. The platform is a human-computer dialogue platform that understands and generates tasks in natural language processing, the two fields are retail and finance, and the five applications are content generation, human-computer dialogue, user intent understanding, information extraction, and sentiment classification.

As a cornerstone dialogue system, ChatGPT still has some shortcomings in terms of reliability, credibility, and accuracy mainly because it cannot be widely used for lack of verticality in the industry and field knowledge in the middle tier, JD Cloud said in February, adding that JD.Com’s AI app Yanxi will launch ChatJD to meet industry needs.

Set up by He, Yanxi is used by 580 million consumers, 880 financial institutions, 1,821 large companies, and nearly two million micro, small, and mid-sized firms. He joined JD.Com in 2018 and became a key member of its AI team.

Many other Chinese internet firms have also unveiled ChatGPT-like products. Baidu released Ernie Bot on March 16. Tongyi Qianwen, a similar product developed by Alibaba Cloud, was opened for testing on April 7. Tencent Holdings is also developing a ChatGPT-like bot, it made known at the end of last month.
