(Yicai Global) Oct. 31 -- JD.com Inc. [NSDAQ:JD] will build a school affiliated with Renmin University of China as well as a kindergarten in Yizhuang in Beijing. The company will complete construction and start enrollment within two years.
These schools will allow the children of most of JD.com's employees to receive an education, Richard Liu, chairman and chief executive of the group, posted on social media yesterday. The company will offer preferential pricing for the children of its employees at the kindergarten, Sohu Inc. [NASDAQ:SOHU] reported.
The school affiliated with Renmin University of China will be a state-run one, offering education to students in grades one through 12, covering primary school, middle school and high school, DoNews reported. Occupying an area of at least 133,333 square meters and a floor area of at least 150,000 square meters, the school will set up 48 classes for primary school, 24 classes for middle school and 24 classes for high school. Its school-running philosophy, course offerings and management model will be in line with those of The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China. The school plans to form a quality team of managers and teachers.
JD.com and premium Chinese kindergarten brand Etonkids International Educational Group will build a kindergarten in Yizhuang, covering an area of about 2,600 square meters. It will have indoor and outdoor facilities, and feature a central ventilation system, intelligent air conditioning and JD.com's facial recognition system. It will have all-day monitoring to ensure children's comfort and security.
JD.com will introduce the world's best schools and hospitals to Yizhuang, Liu said.
