Meituan-Dianping Pledges to Refund Overcharges After Server Glitches Meituan-Dianping Pledges to Refund Overcharges After Server Glitches

(Yicai Global) Dec. 7 -- Chinese group buying site Meituan-Dianping apologized on its Weibo account after a technical problem hamstrung its payment system today, barring users from loading the payment confirmation page after paying for orders.

The issue has since been resolved and service restored, the company said.

The firm is dealing with orders affected and will ensure users' interests are not impacted by the glitch, it assured customers. Any repeat payments will be refunded using the original payment paths, and consumers can cancel and request refunds for incomplete orders without incurring any penalties.

Some servers at Meituan-Dianping broke down at noon today, affecting food delivery and group buying transactions. Payments for some takeout orders were delayed, and some paid orders were incorrectly displayed in the system as unpaid. Some users were unable to load group buy pages. Meituan-Dianping formed on Oct. 8, 2015 through the merger of Dianping Holdings Ltd. and Meituan.com. One of the largest online consumer service platforms in China, its owner is Beijing Science and Technology Co.
