(Yicai Global) Jan. 21 -- Chinese internet company Meituan Dianping will be placing more focus on management training, possibly inspired by the imminent retirement of one of its founding executives.

Meituan will launch a talent development program to improve career prospects and to train successors, Chief Executive Wang Xing said in an open letter published yesterday.

Wang Huiwen, who became senior vice president in 2010, will step down from his role in December while continuing to serve as a board member and as a consultant, the CEO said. Two VPs Guo Qing and Li Shubin will join the Beijing-based firm's senior management team, he added.

Last year, Wang Huiwen started to withdraw from his duties related to the company's on-demand delivery, ride-hailing, and bicycle-sharing business.

"I have not been able to handle the relationship between work, family, and health well," the outgoing executive said in an internal email. "The pain of having to do the management while not loving it is also increasing day by day."

Founded in 2010, Meituan has grown from a group buying platform to offer a wide range of sharing economy services.
