Moscow Metro Accepts Alipay to Attract More Chinese Visitors Moscow Metro Accepts Alipay to Attract More Chinese Visitors

(Yicai Global) Sept. 13 -- Alipay, online payment platform of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA], is now accepted at five stations on the Moscow Central Circle (MCC), the 14th encircle line of subway in Russia's capital, in a move to attract more Chinese tourists, Chinese-language Economic Information Daily reported today, citing a local press report.

"People now can buy tickets using Alipay at the Luzhniki station of the Central Circle. The service is now piloted at five stations along the line -- Luzhniki, Izmaylovo, Business Center, Locomotive and Gagarin Square," said Roman Rutterpov, first vice president of the Moscow Metro operating company.

Chinese visitors to the Russian capital can buy two types of subway tickets -- pay per ride and 24-hour unlimited travel tickets. Ticket purchase instructions are displayed in Chinese language, and special QR code printing PIN-pad devices are installed at entrances, the report said, quoting information published by the Moscow Metro Information Service.

More than 1.3 million Chinese tourists visited Moscow last year, with the number is expected to increase further this year.
