Most Foreign-Backed Firms in China Have Resumed Work, Commerce Ministry Says Most Foreign-Backed Firms in China Have Resumed Work, Commerce Ministry Says

(Yicai Global) April 3 -- Most foreign-invested enterprises in China, especially manufacturing firms, have resumed production and operations now Covid-19 has mostly subsided in the country,  an official at the Ministry of Commerce said today.

Some 66.9 percent of 6,756 companies the ministry considers key enterprises were running at 70 percent of capacity as of March 30, Zong Changqing, director of the Department of Foreign Investment Administration, said. 17.5 percent are less than 50 percent recovered.

There are 241 under-construction projects backed by foreign investors in China, and all but three are once again underway, he added, saying the country will offer support in terms of anti-pandemic supplies, labor, logistics and funding to aid their quick recovery.
