(Yicai Global) Feb. 24 -- The Dutch subsidiary of Chinese digital maps provider NavInfo has signed a six-year deal with a unit of Volkswagen Group to provide data services for the German auto giant’s new infotainment platform.

NavInfo Europe will provide data enhancement and compilation services for Cariad’s One Infotainment, an all-in-one platform that combines a vehicle operating system, cloud and new architecture, and is expected to be available in Volkswagen vehicles from 2024, NavInfo said yesterday.

The deal, which will last from 2024 to 2030, applies to all Volkswagen vehicles sold worldwide with the exclusion of mainland China, the Beijing-based firm said. And it is recognition of the company’s move into advanced driving assistance system data from navigation data.

The value of the contract depends on the number of vehicles equipped with One Infotainment that are sold during the period of cooperation, it added.

NavInfo’s services have been in great demand by European automakers recently. Last November the company was hired by Daimler to provide navigation and e-mapping services for its China-made cars and later the same month it won a contract with Volvo to supply Internet of Vehicles technology services. Last month NavInfo said it will be providing digital mapping services to Volkswagen’s Chinese joint-venture FAW-Volkswagen from 2024 to 2029.

NavInfo [SHE:002405] was trading down 3.19 percent and closed at CNY17.32 (USD2.74) today. The Shenzhen stock exchange benchmark index slumped 2.2 percent.
