Progress in Trade Talks Buoys China Stocks at Opening

(Yicai Global) Oct. 14 -- Chinese mainland stock markets opened higher this morning as investors scoop-up positions amid improved optimism that China and US will soon narrow their differences in their ongoing trade dispute.
 

The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.68 percent up at 2,993.96, while the Shenzhen Component Index started 0.90 percent higher at 9,753.58. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, began the day 0.72 percent higher at 1,678.79.
 

China and the US have made great progress in various areas after new high-level economic and trade talks concluded Oct. 11 in Washington.The two sides also pledged to seek an eventual agreement.
