Saudi Tech Firm Launches World’s First Arabic LLM Built on China’s MiniMax-M3 Saudi Tech Firm Launches World’s First Arabic LLM Built on China’s MiniMax-M3

(Yicai) Sept. 4 -- Humain, the tech unit of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, released the world's first large language model designed specifically for Arabic, built on the open-source MiniMax-M3 lineage by Chinese artificial intelligence startup MiniMax Group and marking a breakthrough in China's AI tech going global.

After surging by as much as 11.3 percent in the morning trading session, shares of MiniMax [HKG: 0100] closed up 1.8 percent at HKD361.40 (USD46.09) apiece in Hong Kong today. The stock, which debuted on the bourse in January, has more than doubled in value from its offering price of HKD165.

The humain-m3, a frontier Arabic-language model commissioned by Humain and delivered by MiniMax, is available in research preview through developer platform Humain Node, the Riyadh-based firm announced on its website yesterday. The model achieved an average score of 89.37 percent on seven Arabic benchmark performance tests, outperforming leading global models like GPT-5.6 SOL under OpenAI, it added.

"Built on the MiniMax-M3 lineage, humain-m3 is a 428-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model further pre-trained on more than one trillion tokens of Arabic-native content," Humain said, adding that its high scores on public Arabic benchmarks show its strong Arabic language understanding and reasoning.

Researchers and developers can test the humain-m3 and provide feedback to further optimize its capabilities on Humain Node, the company stressed.

Humain is an important player in developing AI capabilities in Saudi Arabia, with a business scope that includes data centers, cloud infrastructure, AI models, and applications. The company focuses on supporting Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to transform the oil-dependent country into a more diversified economy.

The new alliance positions MiniMax as a landmark project in China's AI tech expanding overseas. Since its establishment in early 2022, the Shanghai-based company has provided services to over 300 million individual users and more than two million enterprise customers and developers worldwide, according to its website.

The MiniMax-M3 flagship model launched as open source in June, supporting an extended context of one million tokens and excelling in complex tasks, including code generation, AI agent workflows, and long video understanding.
