Second C*Core Chip Passes Internal Tests in Less Than a Month Second C*Core Chip Passes Internal Tests in Less Than a Month

(Yicai) Aug. 16 -- A second microcontroller unit independently developed by Chinese chip designer C*Core Technology has cleared internal testing since the end of last month.

The CCR4001S, C*Core’s new edge artificial intelligence MCU, is the latest, the Suzhou-based firm said yesterday. The chip is for industrial control devices and consumer electronic products with high performance reliability requirements and AI computing needs, such as AI sensors, defect detection gear, sorting robots, and fire alarms, it said.

With the development of AI and smart device technologies, edge computing is becoming an important computing paradigm that allows data processing at the source rather than at a remote server, the company said, adding that edge AI MCUs such as CCR4001S can support this.

On July 29, C*Core announced that its new-generation electronics MCU had passed internal testing. The CCFC3012PT, based on the 40-nanometer eFlash process with higher computing power and information security level, is for use with intelligent assisted driving and smart cockpits.

Set up in 2001, C*Core is known for designing and developing embedded central processing unit cores, system-on-chip solutions, and providing related technical support and services. The firm’s products are used widely in auto electronics, industrial control systems, and consumer electronics.

Shares of C*Core [SHA: 688262] closed up 0.1 percent at CNY16.16 (USD2.25) apiece in Shanghai today, after earlier gaining more than 2 percent. The stock has declined by 45 percent since the end of last year.
