(Yicai Global) Aug. 30 -- Securities brokerages were the biggest gainers this morning as all three of the Chinese mainland major stock benchmarks began the day higher.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.57 up at 2907.38, while the Shenzhen Component Index started 0.64 percent higher at 9,458.39. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, began at 1630.05, up 0.57 percent.

Insurers and home appliance makers also fared well. Gold stocks led losers.
