(Yicai Global) July 27 -- Baosight Software’s shares finished at an all-time high after the Chinese computer software maker unveiled China’s first home-developed programmable logic controller for large industrial control systems, which the Shanghai Observer said breaks the monopoly of foreign suppliers.

Baosight Software [SHA:600845] gained 5.6 percent to CNY65.14 (USD10.02) today, after earlier surging by the 10 percent daily trading limit to set an intraday record of CNY67.84.

The Shanghai-based firm’s PLC was designed and manufactured independently, using local components and software, the Shanghai Observer reported yesterday. Its main technical indicators have been verified by use in the metallurgical industry, the report added.

PLCs are considered the brains of industrial production lines.

Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group will use Baosight’s large PLCs in the production of cold-rolled silicon steel from the second half of this year, the steelmaker’s General Manager Wei Chengwen said.

“As cooperation deepens, Baosight Software will also lead domestic chip and operating system companies to develop various international communication standard protocols, thus driving the common development of upstream and downstream firms,” Chairman Xia Xuesong was quoted as saying.
