(Yicai Global) Oct.17 -- The Shanghai Stock Exchange and Euronext will join hands to bring Chinese investors a better access to cross-border exchange-traded funds.

Huang Hongyuan, chairman of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and Stephane Boujnah, chief executive of Euronext, signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the collaboration plan yesterday on the trading floor of the SSE. Euronext is a pan-European exchange, spanning Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Portugal and the UK.

ETF products based on Euronext's flagship index CAC 40 will be traded on the SSE, which will help the pair to cooperate closer, build a diversified product system for the SSE and promote the opening up of mainland capital markets, the Securities Times reported Liu Shaotong, deputy general manager of the SSE, as saying. The CAC 40 is the most popular benchmark stock market index in France.

Euronext expects more opportunities to communicate and cooperate with the SSE in the future, Boujnah said.
