(Yicai Global) June 1 -- Shanghai’s large shopping malls, including those in Plaza 66 and HKRI Taikoo Hui, are reopening to the public after the Chinese city’s two-month lockdown ended today.

The mall in Plaza 66, a retail and office complex in Shanghai’s Jing’an district, resumed operations on May 29, General Manager Zhang Linna told Yicai Global. As of yesterday, the stores of 29 brands including Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Cartier had opened their doors to customers, while others are gearing up, Zhang said, adding that staff will commute to work normally from today.

The department store at HKRI Taikoo Hui, another city center mixed-use complex, restarted offline operations today, according to an executive, adding that it has been helping vendors and shop owners in recent days to submit the documents needed to reopen.

The six shopping malls affiliated with Shanghai Xujiahui Center Group, which include Metro-City, Shanghai No. 6 Department Store, Hujin Department Store, and Grand Gateway 66, all opened to the public today, an executive at the department store operator told Yicai Global.

Meanwhile, the manager of a small mall in Putuo district said it had been cleared to restart today after handing in the necessary government paperwork, but a number of employees will be unable to return to work just yet because some residential compounds still have restrictions in place.

The Shanghai outlet of Chinese fashion house Sandriver, which has been invited to Paris Fashion Week eight years in a row, is still waiting to reopen, said founder Guo Xiuling. “Many employees still cannot leave their residential communities,” she said. The firm has had almost no revenue for three months, Guo told Yicai Global late last month.
