(Yicai Global) July 13 -- Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co. (formerly ZPMC) [SH:600320] will undertake the storage yard automation wharf program under the Phase II project at the Abu Dhabi Khalifa Port. The contract worth about USD170 million is slated to see delivery by installments in 2018.
As per an announcement issued by Zhenhua yesterday, the company has inked an agreement with Abu Dhabi Oceangate Container Terminal LLC, a subsidiary of China COSCO Shipping Corporation Ltd. (COSCO Shipping).
Shanghai Zhenhua will assume work for the automation wharf program of this yard, involving multiple shore bridges, automated rail-mounted gantry crane, empty container crane, fixed crane and other equipment, said the statement.
The project will be Zhenhua's first order in terms of overseas automated wharf, and its implementation will help the company maintain its share in the global port machinery market and boost its brand influence, it said.
Per public data, the Abu Dhabi Khalifa Port program is the first overseas greenfield initiative of the company under COSCO Shipping.
