(Yicai Global) Dec. 23 -- Shenzhen Center Power Tech, a Chinese maker of lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries, is partnering with two other companies on hydrogen fuel cells to enhance its core competitiveness in the new energy industry.

Center Power, Ningbo BaoSi Energy Equipment and Shanghai Huashang Energy Technology plan an equity and industry tie-up on the research and development, production and supply chain of key components of hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles across China, the Shenzhen-based company said in a statement.

Center Power researches, develops, produces and sells chemical power supplies, new energy storage, power batteries, and fuel cells. Its main products cover three major categories of valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries, lithium ion batteries, and fuel cells.

Shares of Center Power [SHE:002733] closed down 1.95 percent today at CNY23.63 (USD3.40) apiece. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ended 1.4 percent lower.

BaoSi Energy, with a registered capital of CNY660 million (USD94.1 million), mainly researches, develops and makes equipment for coalbed methane, natural gas, and oil associated gas, the statement said. Huashang Energy, with a registered capital of CNY110 million, develops technologies and provides technical consulting services in the fields of new energy, autos, computers, networks, and information technology.
