Sundiro Crafts Full Supply Chain Traceability System for Imported Uruguayan Beef Sundiro Crafts Full Supply Chain Traceability System for Imported Uruguayan Beef

(Yicai Global) Dec. 4 -- China Certification and Inspection Group (CCIC) and meat importer Sundiro Holding Co. [SHE:00571] (Sundiro) have jointly introduced a full supply chain traceability system for beef exported from Uruguay to China, which demonstrates that Sundiro's beef products have passed inspections by international authorities.

After the system comes online, the beef products of the company's Uruguay-based slaughterhouse will enjoy advantages in building competitive barriers in the import trade by providing such services as certificates of origin and commodity trackability, as well as examination and inspection to ensure the beef's safety and quality, Sundiro announced today.

CCIC has signed a cooperative agreement with Uruguayan authorities on the system. China is the largest importer of the South American country's beef, claiming 75 percent of its export volume. Uruguay is a world-renowned cattle producer with an annual consumption of 60 kilograms per capita of the meat, compared to 5.6 kilograms in China, per 2013 statistics.

Sundiro is a comprehensive enterprise whose business spans coal mining, logistics and transport, electric vehicles and yacht manufacturing, among others, as public information shows. The company started to ply the beef business from last year, mainly focusing on import purchasing and resource acquisition of beef from overseas.

The company signed a cooperative agreement with CICC in September, per which both parties will strive to erect a unified nationwide traceability platform for agricultural products and dissemination of food safety information.
