Tech Firms Drag Down China's Mainland Stock Markets for Second Day

(Yicai Global) May 21 -- China's mainland stock markets dropped under the weight of falling tech firms in afternoon session, also copying the performance of yesterday.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.55 percent lower at 2,867.92. The Shenzhen Component Index stood at 10,845.40, down 0.94 percent and the ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, down 0.88 percent to 2,099.43.

Chip firms led the losers, including Anji Microelectronics Technology [SHA:688019], a Shanghai-based semiconductor material supplier, dropped 8.01 percent to CNY287 (USD40.40), following a 5.46 percent decline yesterday.
