(Yicai Global) Nov. 10 -- The fifth China International Import Expo has closed with USD73.5 billion worth of tentative deals, a gain of 3.9 percent from last year’s event, the deputy director of the CIIE Bureau said today.

Some 145 countries, regions and international organization exhibited at this year’s expo, which was held from Nov. 5 to Nov. 10 in Shanghai, Sun Chenghai said at a press conference. More than 2,800 companies from 127 countries and regions took part in the corporate business section. And 284 of the world’s top 500 enterprises participated, more than last year.

Over 1,000 businesses from 104 countries displayed their goods in the food and agricultural products section, which was the biggest exhibition area. The auto section focused on smart and low emission vehicles.

Integrated circuits and AI innovations were the highlights of the technology and equipment display area. And many of the latest products made their debut at the consumer goods section.

The world’s top 15 pharma firms and the biggest 10 medical device makers all had a presence at the medical equipment and healthcare zone. While the trade in services area gathered 39 of the world’s top 500 companies as well as many hidden champions in niche segments.

There was also a digital platform for the first time this year, which attracted 368 tech firms to exhibit online and organized 64 livestreaming activities with 600,000 views.
