(Yicai Global) Dec. 29 -- A bike-sharing user is suing Beijing Mobike Technology Co., alleging that the Beijing-based firm failed to return his security deposit and that the company's security guards hurt him during a conflict.

The user has taken legal action and is asking Mobike to release his CNY299 (USD45) deposit and pay him CNY12,300.59 for medical bills, lost wages and other expenses he incurred as a result of the incident. The Beijing Haidian Court has accepted the case, per information on its online portal.

The complainant submitted a refund application using the Mobike app, but did not receive a response. He contacted customer service on Aug. 31, and a representative said she did not have the right to process refund applications and would report to her supervisor. Customer service told the user to wait for a while. Half an hour after the call, the Mobike app showed that the user's account did not have a security deposit balance, but he had not received a refund.

The user then called customer service multiple times without luck. He went to Mobike's office, where staff told him to call customer service. He later sustained injuries during an altercation with security guards. He called the police, who came to review surveillance footage and take notes. The case is under review.

Several bike-sharing enterprises have shut down this year after hitting financial struggles and failing to return user deposits. The China Consumers Association called for a criminal investigation into Coolqi Beijing Technology Co. and its principal executives after receiving complaints about the company. Coolqi users accused the group of fund-raising fraud and claimed that the firm intentionally made it difficult or impossible for them to get a refund of their deposits and prepaid account funds.
