(Yicai) Aug. 3 -- WeRide will deploy autonomous shared mobility services in Denmark with local electric mobility provider GreenMobility, marking the Chinese self-driving company's entrance in the Nordic market.

WeRide and GreenMobility aim to launch public service in the first half of next year, the Guangzhou-based company announced today. All riders in Denmark will be able to request a ride fulfilled by the GXR, WeRide's latest-generation, European Union-compliant fully self-driving vehicle.

Denmark will be WeRide's first in the Nordic region and the sixth European market, after its recent expansion in Spain and Slovakia. This deal follows the same structure as the ones for Spain and Slovakia, where WeRide supplies the self-driving technology and a local partner handles fleet operations and regulatory requirements.

"By combining WeRide's autonomous driving technology with GreenMobility's local operating capabilities, we are establishing a scalable model for deploying autonomous mobility in new international markets," said Tony Han, founder and chief executive officer of WeRide.

"GreenMobility has built operational excellence across millions of shared car trips in Denmark," CEO Kasper Gjedsted said. "This partnership lets us take that experience directly into our next growth phase in autonomous mobility."

Denmark already permits L4 autonomous trials without an on-board safety driver under legislation updated last year, administered through the Danish Road Directorate's permit system.

WeRide operates self-driving taxis, buses, vans, and sweepers in more than 40 cities across 12 countries. Its robotaxi fleet had grown to about 1,300 vehicles by the end of April, with average and peak daily rides per robotaxi reaching 17 and 28 trips, respectively.

WeRide reported a 58 percent jump in revenue to CNY114.1 million (USD16.9 million) in the first quarter from a year earlier, while its net loss widened to CNY389.1 million.

GreenMobility, which runs about 1,500 electric vehicles, posted a net profit of DKK33.2 million (USD5.1 million) last year, compared with a net loss of DKK18.6 million in 2024. In the first half of this year, its net profit more than doubled.
