(Yicai Global) June 11 -- Airstar Bank, a virtual lender backed by Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi and corporate finance advisory firm AMTD Group, opened in Hong Kong today, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun said on Weibo.

Airstar received its virtual banking license from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in May 2019 and became the second virtual bank to start trial operations in the special administrative region. ZA Bank, which began normal operations on March 24, was the first to pilot such services.
