(Yicai) Aug. 19 -- Xiaomi is exploring the possibility of introducing its new energy vehicles to the European market, the president of the Chinese technology firm said during a live streamed event yesterday, soon after returning from a trip to Europe with other high-ranking executives.

European users appreciate the appearance and performance of Xiaomi cars, Lu Weibing said. Xiaomi will make its autos more intelligent in the future and provide European users with a better experience.

As a EV startup, it is very important for Xiaomi to visit and learn from the best companies in the world, founder and Chairman Lei Jun said at the live streaming event that was held at the company’s summer test base in Turpan, northwestern Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Group Vice President Wang Xiaoyan was also in attendance.

The trip to Europe, during which Lei and other executives visited BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Leica, was very meaningful, Lei said. They were able to experience these firms’ century-old automobile culture and explore the possibility of future tie-ups.

"Xiaomi has built its factories with a strong sense of modernization, but when we visited BMW’s factories, we saw enduring wisdom, such as the fact that a 100-year-old factory still had space to expand production, which was incredible," Lei said.

The success of making a good car like the SU7 is not only thanks to Xiaomi’s efforts, but also due to the fact that when the Beijing-based company started making cars a number of technologies were mature and the industrial chain was also well integrated, Lei added.

Xiaomi delivered more than 10,000 SU7s in July, and it is expected to complete its annual target of 100,000 deliveries ahead of schedule in November, Xiaomi said on its Weibo account.
