(Yicai Global) Nov. 23 -- Well-known Chinese beer maker Guangzhou Zhujiang Brewery Co. [SHE:002461] has struck a deal with Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s [NYSE:BABA] subsidiary Alibaba Cloud Computing Co. to integrate Big Data and artificial intelligence into the beer industry to create a new retail system.
The cloud computing firm announced the plans yesterday at a general meeting in Guangdong. Under the agreement, Alibaba Cloud will help the brewery build three systems for purchase order management, membership management and digital reward to create a connected system of consumers, distributors and beer makers, state-owned China.org.cn reported.
In recent years, Zhujiang Brewery has extensively applied online technology to popularize its 'QR code for a bottle' service, giving each bottle of beer a unique QR code to monitor the flow of its products. Under the new system, consumers will be able to enter online prize draws and find nearby stockists to collect their prizes.
