Six of the world's top ten cities for high-quality research were Chinese last year, up from five in 2023 and accounting for over half for the first time, according to the latest Nature Index Top 10 science cities rankings. Beijing has ranked first since 2016, with Shanghai in second. By subject, Chinese cities took all the top 10 spots in the chemistry rankings.
