The JV between Chinese battery giant CATL and European carmaker Stellantis broke ground yesterday for a major lithium-iron phosphate battery plant in Spain's northeastern Aragon region, Xinhua reported. The factory has a planned investment of EUR4.1 billion (USD4.8 billion) and will likely go live by the end of next year, delivering up to 50 GWh of LFP batteries annually for EVs.
