Torrential rain battered parts of China's southwest Guizhou province from June 6 to yesterday, triggering floods and forcing the evacuation of nearly 10,000 residents, Xinhua reported yesterday. China's Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a red alert for mountain torrents at 6 p.m. yesterday.
