China yesterday began building a mega waterway project on the Yangtze River, including what will likely become the world's largest inland ship lock, Xinhua reported. The CNY77.2billion (USD11.3 billion) project will add a five-tier, dual-track ship lock north of the existing lock at the Three Gorges Dam, doubling its annual throughput capacity to 336 million tons.
