Wang Hong, one of this year's four recipients of the Fields Medal, the highest honor in mathematics, has advised Chinese students considering advanced studies abroad to remain open to opportunities both in China and overseas, noting that China now has many outstanding professors and an excellent research environment. In a Peking University interview yesterday, she shared of her own career unfolded entirely abroad and that, although she wanted to stay at MIT or in Boston after her doctoral studies, that plan did not work out.
