(Yicai Global) May 29 -- Around 130 brands from Hong Kong took part in the Chic Hong Kong shopping festival in Shenzhen, the first large promotion of Hong Kong fashion products in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area after the full reopening of travel earlier this year.

The three-day event, held through May 28 at the Coco Park shopping mall in the city’s Futian district, attracted nearly 80 exhibitors from Hong Kong, with about 40 percent coming to the Chinese mainland market for the first time.

The economic recovery in the Greater Bay Area has gained strong momentum after the full reopening of travel, said Peter Lam, chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

The Chic Hong Kong shopping festival aims to introduce Hong Kong’s premium brands and product designs to consumers in the Greater Bay Area and Chinese mainland cities, promoting the development of the internal circular economy and exchanges within the Greater Bay Area, he added.

Through the event, sustainable footwear brand Kibo entered the mainland market for the first time and held an exclusive sale of limited series for Shenzhen consumers. “We’ll use the apple pomace from juice farms to make eco-friendly casual shoes,” a Kibo salesperson said.

Many other participants already have a presence in the mainland market. Water bottle maker Wemug already had accounts on several social media platforms in the mainland and looked to the exhibition as a new showcase. “We came from Hong Kong specially for the exhibition, and many exhibitors came this time, offering good discounts,” a Wemug staffer said.

The Chic Hong Kong shopping festival attracted many consumers and had of three thematic zones, displaying various products, including household goods, electronics, apparel, and food.
