(Yicai Global) Feb. 1 -- Twenty-two people, the first to have been quarantined in group in Shanghai, were discharged at 5pm on Friday, after 14 days of observation.

None of them developed any symptoms of coronavirus and the district health service released all 22 employees of the Minhang District enterprise. They immediately headed home.

With one of their colleagues confirmed infected with coronavirus, health officials determined that 22 coworkers had close contact with the patient had to be quarantined.

The administration committee of Xinzhuang Industrial Park, where the enterprise is located, helped find a hotel and provided vehicles to take them there.

During their quarantine, doctors took their temperatures twice a day. Meals were served by medical staff and waste was collected and processed as medical waste. The hotel was disinfected every day.

Wang Xin'an, one of those isolated, said all the employees entered the designated hotel immediately after they were told of the decision without complaint.

"I feel so proud for our whole team for showing great sense of social responsibility throughout the whole process," said Wang.

"Actually, we were worried at first because we came directly from our office without any luggage," he added. "But the authorities and staff supplied everything we needed."

The detainees were not allowed to socialize, but set up a temporary Party branch and a union group to help each other with emotional problems and organized competitions via WeChat to keep fit, such as shuttlecock kicking, skipping and running, which all could be done in their rooms.

The company also set up a team to support relatives of the isolated employees.

Jiang Xinxin, another who spent 14 days in isolation, said: "To relax we came up with a lot of activities. Besides the sports competitions, we also made video calls on Chinese New Year's Eve, greeting and encouraging each other. We guessed traditional lantern riddles and ate dumplings and snacks, just like any other New Year's Eve dinner. These all eased our homesickness."

"My biggest wish was that we would all be discharged together," he added. "Today, my wish has come true and I'm so happy. I would like to say thanks to all the people who have helped us during our quarantine."
