(Yicai Global) Aug. 6 -- The second China International Import Expo sent out invitations to buyers in China's northwestern Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region yesterday to assist the area in broadening its links to and cooperation with countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road initiatives to revive China's ancient trade routes.
This is the eighth roadshow the second CIIE has staged to lure business investments to and the first investment promotion targeting buyers in Northwest China.
Focusing on advertising and promoting the second fair's exhibition areas for the equipment and services trades, the event will mostly zoom in on industry associations, private businesses and small and mid-sized firms.
The region's trade groups deployed more than 400 businesses and buyers to attend the first CIIE, where they penned 24 agreements of intent whose aggregate value was CNY2.74 billion (USD389 million), statistics show.
Xinjiang's import and export trade with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and other partners along the Silk Road route was CNY101 billion last year, or about three-quarters of its total.
